We've built a small primary board of trusted friends of the founder.  Each brings something to the organization but each lacks the same important need.  A diverse perspective and outside opinion from the founders friends. To help bring in a more diverse perspective we're calling on the public to nominate potential Board of Directors members and Advisory Council members for the nonprofit. Nominees should be local or able to help locally. We will get some great nominees but we plan to review the nominees at our monthly board meetings.  So this search will not be overnight. We're pleased to announce that we've been accepted to Google Nonprofits. This provides free services that billion dollar enterprises have access too, and nonprofits get these for free. We're working to complete our integration with Google Nonprofits but should be using them heavily within the week.
The board has expanded to include a fifth member, Anthony Hardin.  Anthony works with Apple and has experience working in legislative government as well as political campaigns.  Anthony was approved by a unanimous vote of members during a special polling conducted by Matthew Leffler, President of LFI. Anthony has been elected by the board to serve as an officer.  Anthony will lead programing and as we're a tech organization that includes technology.  Anthony's title is Vice President of Programing and Technology.  Additionally the board shuffled other officers, naming Chris Coffman, Vice President of Administration and Jimmy Ausbrooks, Vice President of Services.  Matthew Leffler remains President and interim treasurer and Chris Coffman has been named interim Secretary. Leffler Foundation Inc is determined to advance the opportunities available to at risk young adults in Kentucky. It has become increasingly obvious that technical training and laptops are only useful when the recipient has a safe environment to live. To that need we’ve expanded our original program scope to include providing LGBTQ homeless or close to homeless individuals in Louisville a safe steady living environment. To better help our growing mission the Board of Directors held a members meeting May 14, 2020 in which 66% of voting members where present and by unianimous consent name Jimmy C Ausbrooks, a Kentucky mental health professional, to the Board of Directors.  Jimmy accepted this role and expands our board’s skillset to include mental health as well as technology, legal and education professionals.  The Board now has 4 seats, this now requires a 3/4 vote to pass board decisions...
Leffler Foundation Inc has formed a wholly owned subsidiary named Blizzard SEO Limited Company after the donation of the domain blizzardseo.com by Ultimate SEO LLC.   This new incorporated entity will allow LFI to gain a direct revenue stream from technical work offered to the general public. Leffler Foundation Inc was formed to provide greater technology access to needy populations in Kentucky and Indiana.  This training and hardware focused mission is supported through the work of this new subsidiary which provides additional opportunity to work with the technology gained from LFI’s efforts. This was approved by the board May 13th 2020.  Work on the site will be ongoing and the new LLC is still being finalized.
Leffler Foundation Inc Name Any name that is longer than 10 letters as generally too long for public consumption.  Leffler Foundation Inc is one of these names.  While LFI is shorter and easier in logos, it’s important to retain the long form name as it carries the name of our founder and his father. The name also has begun to build a history of its own, in the use of the word Foundation.  It was originally chosen to differentiate the nonprofit purpose of the organization from other corporations. A Foundation We Are Not A foundation is actually a type of nonprofit for tax purposes.  Foundations typically receive the majority of their funding from a trust or a family.  This organization is not a foundation as defined by tax law.  This can lead to confusion and a name change would address this issue. The Executive Director of the Leffler Foundation Inc (the “Nonprofit”) is the principal representative of the Leffler Foundation Inc, and the person responsible for the efficient operation of the Nonprofit.  Therefore, it is the desire of the Nonprofit to provide a fair yet reasonable and not excessive compensation for the Executive Director (and any other highly compensated employees and consultants).  The annual process for determining compensation is as follows: The Nonprofit shall, either the full board or a compensation committee annually evaluate the Executive Director on his/her performance, and ask for his/her input on matters of performance and compensation.  Board Approval.
